Visit The Daingerfield State Park

During the Civil War, the area’s iron foundries, sawmills, and cowhide tanyards worked at full speed to supply the Confederacy. Today, much of the region’s vitality centers on Daingerfield State Park, developed as a recreation area by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the late 1930s. Unusual among CCC-constructed park facilities, cast concrete tinted with local sandstone aggregate was favored over traditional stone, blocks, and wood. Fast fact: This town is the seat of Morris County – one of the smallest in Texas.
