The Bertha Terry Cornwell Museum (named after a local librarian and historian) features the history of Sour Lake from 1840 to the present. Near the museum is The Texas Company Fee No. 3 Discovery Monument which was the start of oil-energy giant Texaco in 1903. The stone monument is located at 300 South Ann Street next to Alma M.
